The opening reception will be held, Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Frederick located at 4880 Elmer Derr Road, Frederick, MD 21703. At this time visitors, friends and members are welcome to view this show and meet the artist. The exhibit may also be viewed from May 3 - 31, 2015. To visit the show on a day other than May 3, please call 301-473-7680 to assure the building is open. The gallery hours vary.

Barrick's work exudes a love of nature and keen observation in her plein air paintings, monotypes and etchings. Growing up in rural Frederick County, Dorothea has an affinity for colors, energy and moods of the changing seasons. She garnered a BFA and MFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art and is widely collected. The monotypes are interesting combinations of painting and printmaking, some using additional materials such as leaves, lace and feathers. Barrick has taught for many years and is presently teaching at FCC, FCPR, Adams County Arts Council, and hosts an Open Studio class with the Senior Center in Emmitsburg.
